Special Board Meeting

The First Agenda meeting for this new board was held Thursday at 10am.  Immediately after the board meeting Mary Pracht and Terry Shipp demanded a Special Board Meeting to be held on Monday at 6:30pm to "elect new officers".  Why?

At the Annual Meeting the officers elected by this board were:
  • Charles Wood  ----President
  • Jack Watson    ----Secretary
  • Jim Hannon      ----Vice President
  • Tom Lockette  ----Treasurer
In performing the president's duties, Mr. Wood chose his chairman of the Finance Committee - Jim McWilliams.   The past chairman, Don Osteroff, was very upset!  Tom Lockette quit his position as Treasurer.
Mr. Wood also formed a Public Safety Committee to address the concerns of the members of Diamondhead regarding the Police Shooting of July 21, 2010.  This idea was frowned upon by Mary Pracht and Jim Hannon.  "There is no need for that committee".

A member of the Public Safety Committee was present to request their recommendations be considered during the up coming Board meeting.  Request was denied.   The Public Safety Committee will be meeting on Monday, 9-13-2010, at 6:30pm, in a card room of the Club House, members of DH are encouraged to attend.

Jack Watson made a request to have the minutes from the Annual Meeting approved by the board and made public for the members of Diamondhead to read.  This request was denied, stating that the Annual Meeting minutes have always been read and approved at each Annual Meeting ( one time per year), and there was no reason to change.  These "Notes", however, are available on The Committee Report - post dated 8-22-10.

Another interesting conversation during the Agenda meeting concerned Larry Brown / Family Fun Center / Condo/Hotel.  It seems that Mr. Brown promised to give monthly updates regarding the progress of the construction of his Condo/Hotel.  No one has heard from Larry Brown.  Mr. Brown was invited to the Annual Meeting, but did not show.  Where is he ?  What is going on with the "trust" that last year's board gave this man, against the better judgement of the Diamondhead Community ?

The Utility Board President, Jim Hannon, reported on the progress (or lack of progress) made in their attempt to find a broker for the proposed bond issue.  "We have asked everyone we can think of" to sell the bonds so Diamondhead can purchase Riveria Utilities.  Why are those that do this financial business as a profession refusing to cooperate with Riveria Utilities - Utility Board ?  Do they know something that we don't ?

Sam Porterfield attended the agenda meeting with the purpose of recording the information he received, passing this information to me --> so that I may share it with you.  This was strongly objected to by Mary Pracht.  Why?  What does she want to hide?
