Care Caps Connection - Diamondhead helpers
Mary Philips is putting out an “All Call” for help on Monday, August 29.
Volunteers from several Care Cap Connections™ teams plan to join in a one-day sew-in. They are producing cancer caps for M.D. Anderson Cancer Center .
“Summer demand from all our medical centers pushed our reserves to zero,” says Mary. “We must make 150-200 caps to satisfy immediate extra requirements.”

"I want to thank everyone who put their confidence in me. I appreciate all your votes. I am pleased to serve as your president. The beauty of Diamondhead is not how happy I am, but, how happy others can be because of me. I hope to win the respect of all residents, and to find the best in all. I want to earn the appreciation of honest critics, and endure the betrayal of false friends." President Rick Noffsinger

I was thinking while pondering in my swing, that if everyone knew the rules concerning committee chairman appointments, perhaps the incoming President will not run into the buzz-saw that I hit last year.
First, according to our By-Laws, the President is responsible for appointing the Chairman for each of the committees. Many of our committees have gone dormant due to lack of interest, or failure to appoint a Chairman. For example the Long Range Planning Committee has not published a report in the past ten years.
Another thing which I don't think most people are aware of, is that the tenure of committee chairpersons is the same as that of the elected appointing official, which in our case is one year. This does not mean necessarily, that every chairperson must be replaced every year. It is however the President's decision to make. Actually, the honorable thing would be for each Chairperson to offer their resignation to the out going President prior to the annual meeting each year.
Hopefully, if everyone understands the rules; the new President will have a smoother first week than I had. Oh by the way, that tenure thing is in Robert's Rules.

Care Caps
Please ask all Care Cap volunteers to sign up for our Twitter updates. It is quick and easy.
From now on, everyone will be able to know the total number of Care Caps produced—it is now over 36,000. They will also know our Quarterly News and immediate Calendar changes—especially important if you have to change or cancel sew-ins. A very important of new news is our progress toward the instructional DVD. In about two months, we expect to upload it to YouTube so we can grow the charity even more.
(Our Twitter account is now active. This week, it will link through Twitter to Facebook. Then, every time, I make an online change, the change automatically passes on to receiver’s email and personal devices such as handhelds. We will be asking our contacts to become “friends” of Care Caps and to pass us on to others.)

H2 Status for Aassessing Property dues
Hi Diane, a few weeks ago I promised to send an explanation to clarify my rational for consistantly voting against granting H2,3 or 4 status. For your readers who aren't familiar with those terms; they are something used by the Architectural Committee (ACC) for homes to which the owners are assessed dues for only one of the two or more properties surrounding their home.
According to our Bill of Assurance, there are two ways in which this is permitted:
If the home being constructed is too large to conform with the conditions of the (1) Size, Set-Back and (2) Sewerage, Water Supply provisions of the Bill and a second contiguous lot is required to meet the conditions set forth, such combined lots shall be considered one lot for the purpose of these restrictions and maintenance fees.
I have not found anything in the Bill which authorizes the ACC to change those conditions. In fact, the last paragraph of the Bill specifies that a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the lot owners in the Diamondhead subdivision is required to make any changes to the Bill.
I realize that there are probably some of the POA members who think that I vote the way I do sometimes, just to be obstinate. I can assure you that I always have a reason for the way I vote.

Golf Tournament Committee
Need your Input Please !!!
We would really like to get the numbers and participation up in the Men's and Women's Club Championship. This should be one of our biggest and best Tournaments of the year. This is for us and something we should take pride in and support.
The Tournament committee would really appreciate your personal thoughts on the way we need to flight the Men's and Women's Club Championship.
