Water Treatment Plant

I'm sending this because it could effect Diamondhead. The public utilities has spent $4,000,000.00 for a study to determine a new location of fresh water for the Hot Springs water system. The selected site was not approved by the state health department but the Utilities Dept. insists on building a water plant there.Just FYI

POA Taxes

President Massey announced during the Town Meeting, Thursday, Feb. 17th, that Diamondhead POA is preparing for a court hearing regarding unpaid taxes.

According to the Department of Finance & Administration, Diamondhead has not paid the taxes based on  GR-11 Sales of Tickets, Dues, or Fees:  Section B

Section C indicates this code relates to "a private club".  Diamondhead does have a liquor permit, but we are not a private club.

Our Attorney Jonathan Jones has recommended the POA contact a tax attorney.  Christopher Brockett has been suggested.

Snow Angle !!!!!!

"Here I am making snow angels in my pajamas..........Can you think of anything better to do on a snowy day?"
This picture was sent by Karen Honold.  I don't know who is making the snow angle!

DRC Website

This morning I sent a message to Suzzi Combs regarding the "Members Only" section of the DRC website.  I was hoping she would explain how to access this section.  Here is her response.

That part of the website was not received well by the residents and has been disabled. As we go forward with the new combined site, a new directory will be accessible by all. We hope people will be comfortable listing their phone numbers, email addresses and maybe even cell numbers. It will allow our local phone directory to remain more up to date than the semi annual Lions Club directory.

Friday's accident on 171 -- Safety Alert !

I just read Diane’s comments concerning the bad road conditions during last week’s snow event. The roads in Hot Spring and Garland counties became very bad in a very short period of time. As one of three Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Office employees with county provided four-wheel drive trucks, I am very busy during such bad weather. During the first good snow storm this year, I spent over twelve hours on Interstate 30 alone.

Dangerous Roads

The Snow is beautiful .....But the roads are very dangerous!  I drove into Marlvern for work this morning, and started back just after 9:am.
The few cars were creeping along at about 30 miles per hour along 171.  A dark colored Jeep was in front of me and we were doing just fine until we came to a slight downward bend in the road.  I watched the Jeep veer over to the Right side and disappear over the embankment, just as I noticed the accident he must have been trying to avoid right in the middle of the road about 100 yards ahead me.  I started gently pumping the brakes on my car, praying I would not run into the mess directly in front of me.
