G.M. Buddy Hudson have severed their ties. Mr. Hudson made many valuable
changes and we respect his services to the community. We wish him prosperity in

Letter of Recommendation from the Public Safety Committee
The following letter was received by each of the Board members:

Regarding:
Immediate removal of both the General Manager, Wallace Hudson and the sitting
board president, Suzzi Combs
The
primary function of the Safety Committee is to ensure the safety and well being
of the Diamondhead residents. Therefore the committee has resolved and
most strongly recommends, and, if it was within our scope of duties would
insist, that the following actions be taken with dispatch:
- That the Board immediately remove Wallace
Hudson, with cause, from his position as General Manager of
Diamondhead for the following reasons along with others too numerous to
list in this short epistle.
1. His actions at a recent community meeting created extreme friction and
enmity between himself and many residents. Besides attempting to ridicule
and "call out" anyone who disagreed with him, he had the Diamondhead
police forcibly eject a senior citizen from the meeting without allowing him to
speak even though every other person was allowed 2 minutes to be heard.
This action has now resulted in a complaint being filed calling for the
General Manager's arrest.
2.
His heavy handed, harsh, and intimidating manner of dealing with residents of
Diamondhead has resulted in many residents doubting their safety. THIS IS
NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR for a general manager.
- That the Board of Directors remove Suzzi Combs from said board without
delay for the following reasons:
1. She allowed, condoned, and possibly instigated the immature and
inappropriate behavior of the General Manager at the above mentioned community
meeting.
2. She allowed the forcible removal of a resident without allowing that
person to defend himself or even speaking after she had told everyone they
could speak for 2 minutes. After that, she closed the meeting so no one else was allowed to
speak except for the General Manager who went on a tirade against everyone who
had complained about him.
3. She has facilitated the heavy handed and intimidating tactics of
the general manager in dealing with residents resulting in many becoming
fearful.
We
strongly urge that these actions be taken forthwith because Diamondhead’s safety is of utmost
concern to this committee. Let's learn from our past mistakes.

Police Message
- The out going front gate has been hit multiple times due to residents not knowing whether the gate will shut or not. This damage to the gate has caused both gates to malfunction. The gates are 'old and parts are hard to find' / difficult to replace.
- The financial budget for the Security Department does not allow 24 / 7 security patrol or gate personnel.
- Chief Joel Tyner's statement during the Annual Meeting on August 17th: 'Yes, we have 24 hour security for Diamondhead.' Explanation: Security Officer patrols the roads of Diamondhead until 3:am. Community members are requested to dial 262-1631 for DH Police Department. After 'normal business hours' all calls are re-directed to Hot Springs / Garland County Police Department (911). These calls are than forwarded as needed.

Important Message from POA member Kerry Bratton:
Last week while attending a county government conference I had the opportunity to hear about a service called Smart911. Various government entities contract with the vendor to make this service available to their communities.
This is a FREE service for you and no information which you provide is sold or available to any person until you make that 911 call and then the information is only available until 1) the call ends; or 2) 45 minutes total duration. Here’s how you register:
1. Register on-line by going to www.smart911.com
2. Provide only the information that you feel comfortable providing.
3. Because the service is only as good as the information given, you should link ALL cell phones connected to your household to your account (ex. children, parents you may be taking care of, etc).
4. When registering, you will get a pop-up asking if your information can be used in their program called SmartPlanner. That program is for local Office of Emergency Management to put together plans for events which require notification and assistance of citizens. For example, in an evacuation, they can see who has a place to go; or who the shut-ins are that need assistance. For utility outages, plans can be made to get to those who may need assistance more quickly than others due to medical conditions, etc.
Example of how it works:
A lady, who is registered with Smart911, is outside watering her flowers. There is an event and she makes a 911 call from her cell phone, but is unable to speak to the 911 operator. When her call comes in her information she provided to Smart911 pops up for the operator. The operator sees her address and using the services map overlays and cell phone pings, the operator believes her to be at her residence and dispatches law enforcement. After dispatching law enforcement she continues her job by checking for other information that would be helpful and sees that the resident is allergic to bees. Considering the caller can’t speak the operator dispatches EMS/ First Responders so that in the event medical help is needed, the operator has it covered. When they arrive they see the woman has suffered several bee stings and her throat is nearly swollen completely closed, they intervene and the lady survives. In this event, without the ability to promptly locate the caller, have some medical info and be able to send appropriate help, this woman may not have survived.
An example of information that has been very valuable ----- if you have a pool, include that information and where the pool is located. In the event of a house fire, should resources be limited, they would know that water is available from the pool.
PLEASE consider registering for this FREE service and be sure to link all mobile phones to your account. This works if you are traveling and make a 911 call also. I know that the website has additional information about the service and would encourage you to check it out before you register.

DPOA Board Member Resignation ~
Resignation:
I want to thank
Diamondhead property owners for their support and I appreciate the opportunity
to have served you the last two years. This was a difficult decision for me to make.
I know many would prefer I go out with a big bang, but that is not my style. I do have mixed feelings and I feel I am
letting down those of you who do support my efforts and time.
Currently, I have to go
with my gut feelings, and my gut feelings tell me it is time to resign. The board and I have irreconcilable
differences on how to conduct Diamondhead business.
I cherish the fact that I
have kept an ‘open door’ policy so anyone could talk to me about anything
anytime. I have never had a private
agenda. Honesty is the best policy, and
I have always treated everyone with respect and dignity. Property owners should demand this from all
board members.
Like it or not, I was part
of this board. This board has a dark
cloud hanging over it, and I know how it got there. If I stay on the
board then I am part of the problem and not the solution. Maybe, the board will function better knowing
I will not be the thorn in their side; I will not be there to critic their
every move. From their prospective, I’m
sure that gets old. From my perspective,
I had to look out for the welfare of the community as a whole by encouraging
the practice of good business and common sense.
I wish nothing but the
best for the current new board.
I have submitted a
resignation to the board and this is my resignation to the community. We love living in Diamondhead, I appreciate
the people I have met and the friends I have made the last two years and I am
truly sorry for the friends we have lost over my decisions. Thank
you, Diamondhead.
Front Gate Up-Date ~
I stopped at the Front Gate on my way home from work last
night to ask for an up-date on the condition of the gates. The guard on duty was happy to share with me,
and the community through the Blog & i-Neighbors, the latest information:
- The outgoing gate was struck, again, by a vehicle. This put both gates out of commission.
- The gates are old and parts are hard to acquire.
- The guards are on duty until 3:am. No patrolman after 3: am

Diane, I just read Jerry
McAnear 's comments regarding the vote count on your blog.
First, THANK YOU Jerry for your comments.
I have served on the nominating committee for 7 or 8
years, and always been very committed to having a fair and open election, and
am proud of the way the election has been conducted. I will freely admit
there were some problems (pre-voting) last year, and I have assumed full
responsibility for those problems. I was tardy in performance of my
duties on the committee. I have taken steps to assure those problems do
not occur again. But, once ballots are mailed out, there can be no question
as to the legality nor transparency of the process. This year all
ballots were mailed to the accounting firm, who held them, unopened, until
delivery to us at the counting meeting. I know that at least one person
in the audience was counting with us, and probably had the results before we
did. If there is a suggestion as to how it could have been more open, I
would like to hear it. But believe me, I will not entertain ANY
suggestion that there was anything dishonest or 'not transparent' about the
process.

Diamondhead Community Church ~ Pastor Mark Williams
Many of the members in Diamondhead Community Church are in deep prayer over
what will happen in the community after the board election this month. At least
6 people have asked me where I stand in the matters at hand. If 6 have asked me
then 60 are wondering.
"I stand with God, praying His will be done and His kingdom on earth
grow."
As the pastor of Diamondhead Community Church I'm in a position of
religious authority and therefore am legally bound because of the separation
between church and state to keep my opinions to myself on matters of a political
nature. I can say that I have spent much time in prayer about this matter and it
grieves me that the great diversity of the community has become adversity. I
encourage all to respect each others opinions, stay in the truth that can be
proven by documented evidence, and no matter what happens continue to show
Christian love in all matters, even to those with whom you disagree. Do not let
these disagreements separate you as brothers and sisters in Christ. The truth is
when you stand together you are stronger then when you stand apart.

Lions Club donation~
The Lions Club purchased a new FM transmitter sound system for the hearing
impaired and installation was completed today, 6 August 2013. Besides the
transmitter, there are four small pocket-size receivers with ear phone that can
be purchased from the Lions at $100 each for individual ownership. This system
transmits whatever is spoken into the microphones with loud volume and
is background noise-free.
This equipment is compatible with that at the Diamondhead church and Dean
Hartwell verified that today with his existing receiver. The cost to the Lions
was $1095.00. $400 will be recovered when we sell the four receivers. More
receivers can be purchased anytime.
