DPOA Financial Operating Results as of 2-29-12

Electric Fences Information

Thank you for your inquiry regarding electrical containment.
The majority of our chargers carry an intermittent current which causes the fence to short out every ¼ of a second. The purpose of this short is to offer safety to any animals or humans who may come into contact with the wire. The short will allow an animal to receive a shock but then also have the opportunity to pull itself off the wire during the ¼ of a second. A shock from an electrical fence will hurt, but it should not be harmful.

Fire Chief Matt Simpson has been reinstated!

Diane. I have accepted the position of Deputy Chief at the fire dept. There is a lot of interest in my returning as chief. There is a chance that I may be asked to advance back to Chief in the next few weeks but will take some thinking on my part. I have been both humbled and flattered by the kind words, phone calls and letters from both Diamondhead and the rest of the fire district's residents. I will keep you advised if things change. Thankyou for your support and the service you provide to our community. Thanks again. Matt

I wish to thank all of Diamondhead for the wonderful amounts of support. Please forward any questions to board president Gene Sparling. He can be reached through the fire dept office. Thanks again. I am going to enjoy my hobbies. Matt Simpson

POA meeting with Fire Marshall

Lieutenant State Fire Marshall Lindsey Williams and 3 other Fire Personnel met with POA President Rick Noffsinger, GM Sarah Dawson and Police Chief Joel Tyner on Wednesday, March 28, 2012.  Diane Porterfield was there to represent the Public Security Committee and the members of Diamondhead.

Here is a list of the facts as laid out and discussed in detail:

Country Club Building:

  • The 2 hour Fire Wall that divides the 19th Hole from the rest of the building must be re-established by replacing the glass door with a metal Fire door; same as the door that leads into the kitchen.  The “access” window must also be closed up with ‘fire wall’ specifications.
  • Electrical & Cable work that has previously been preformed must be caulked properly.
  • No sprinkler system is needed for outdoor area.
  • No sprinkler system is needed for indoor 19th Hole area because the maximum occupancy load of 99 will (most likely) never be reached.
  • Banquet Room has a 1 hour Fire Wall.  The sprinkler system in the ceiling must have ‘above & below’ sprinklers.
  • GM Sarah Dawson will be meeting with Arkansas Fire Protection / Perkins Contractors Thursday, March 29th to set a date for construction of Sprinkler System.
  • All work on above areas must begin ‘well before May 1st’, as stated by the Fire Marshall.
Fire Lane:
  • Fire Lane will be extended out from the front drive-through area, into the parking lot and extended to the Kiddy Coral, 30 feet wide.  This will take out 6 parking spaces.  This section will be marked off and labeled as “Fire Lane”.
  • A fire hydrant will be added on the out-going Independence Drive side of the Club House.
  • The area previously indicated as ‘Fire Lane’ can now be used for handicap parking with lines drawn to specify parking for possibly 6 cars à up, near the entrance to the Club House.
A letter will be sent to the Fire Marshall early next week indicating the dates this work will begin.

Submitted by,
Diane Porterfield

Lifesaving event on February 25th

I was out of town when this occurred, but I thought it should be brought to your attention. At the weekly Fore Seasons Golf event on February 25th, a guest became incapacitated and unresponsive. Fore Seasons members, Jim Martin, Don Oseroff and Lee Reed evaluated the situation and began administering CPR. A call to Chief Joel Tyner was made, and he arrived along with a portable defibrillator. CPR and the defibrillator were used to keep the individual responsive until an ambulance arrived. I was told that he had surgery last week and has been released from the hospital. In the interest of privacy concerns, I am not listing his name.

Jim Martin, Don Oseroff, Lee Reed and Joel Tyner helped to save a life, and there aren't many things better than that. The Diamondhead Lions Club bought two defibrillators last year for the POA.
