Cart Path Fundraiser ~ UPDATE

Yesterday, May 26th, Diamondhead hosted a fund raising cart path tournament.
It was a huge success!

We had 19 foursomes…………76 players @$25/person playing a scramble and most of us got in before the downpour!
We sold mulligans and chances for a 50/50 pot ………and all enjoyed a delicious potluck dinner!
It was a pleasure to see so many interested participants getting together for a POSITIVE day to help the golf course.
We raised over $2,000 and with the help from our Golf Committee's hard work in preparing and selling firewood, we will be able to repave #7  cart path.
Thank you all for a great day!!

Message from the General Manager

Diamondhead
5/19/13

Operation Secure Diamondhead is in full swing as all residents in our community come together for a common cause; Securing our community!
Although there are many differences of opinions of how this should be done, one thing is for sure; when it comes to getting things done, we can make it happen.
Special thanks to everyone who attended the town meeting last Thursday night.   You’re voices were heard and opinions were appreciated.  There were lots of good ideas shared and even healthy debates on several issues.
Each one of our department managers brought valuable information from  their departments and shared their accomplishments and challenges that has been in the works since last town meeting.
As I mentioned in the meeting, this is somewhat of a painful process when it comes to increasing dues in particular areas in order to move our community forward  and maintain the wonderful amenities that we’ve all come to enjoy in Diamondhead.
Special thanks to our board of directors and numerous committee members that donate their time, knowledge and energy to make Diamondhead a better place to live.
As General Manager,  I appreciate your willingness to follow my lead as we continue to work together for a common cause to better our community.

Best Regards,

Buddy Hudson

Board member answers question

Dear Diane,
While I read "your thoughts matter", I rarely comment. I felt the need to respond this time and was denied access to your email response address! I'm taking this venue in hopes that you'll post my response. dj I want to thank Sharon Carr for asking questions about how I voted. As she was in attendence at the Town Meeting for the discussion and a week later for the vote, I can only assume that she wished for those who couldn't attend to know why I and other board members voted as we did.
First: My YES vote on a dues increase and then on a special assement.
When Bob and I moved here we thought we'de found the perfect place to live, only to find out that this "perfect" place was deep in debt! Next came the "now infamous" dues increase. It has took Diamondhead years to dig out from under this debt!
Unfortunetely this years board was faced with ending the fiscal year without enough money to make the payroll. Also, our line of credit with a local bank had been left to expire, so we had very few options. We needed to get the statementd for the dues sent asap. The vote for an increase (actually leaving the fee at $900.) failed. Then a vote to ask for a special assesment that failed. I and others voted for one then the other, rather than risk us going once again into debt! None of us wanted to take us backwards!
Buddy Hudson and the members of his staff have spend countless hours finding the problems, waste, duplicate services, etc. He and his staff have saved us much, but we can cut back only so much. This board wants to make ends meet and pay Diamondhead's bills without more money for the rest of the year. Hopefully we can!
Second: Transparency
The board voted to not have the detail of police reports on the MAIN blog page, available to the world. While we have no legal obligation ( according to our lawyers) to publish these reports, it wasn't a problemwith the board as long as they were posted in the members only section. Same as our financials, etc. Any property owner has a right to information. Financials are given monthly at the town meetings as are police reports. Pick up a copy at the meeting, in the office or request one sent to you.
Hope this answers your questions. Diane Jones

The Board did not "vote to not have the detail of police reports on the Main blog page available to the world."  The Board has no jurisdiction over the Blog.  It was suggested, and accepted, that this information be shared on the Members Only page.  Diane Porterfield
