"Considering the budget conditions we are under at the present time, and the fact that Joel desperately needed a new chair and file cabinets, we decided to personally give he and his wife a gift to show our appreciation for his hard work" said Alan Thornton. Thornton went on to state that because the gift was made directly to Chief Tyner it wouldn't interfere in any way with the current budget or be considered as a depreciating asset that Diamondhead has to adjust or account for. "It really is the best of both worlds, if Joel resigns or leaves his job he gets to take it with him and Diamondhead isn't saddled with the burden of accounting for it. It's kinda like having your own coffee cup at work" said Thornton.
The entire group stated the deep respect they have for the Police Department and look forward to having them in Diamondhead for years.
