Community Standards:
Liza Stephens expressed her committee’s desire to become more ‘friendly’. This month’s Home of the Month award goes to
Rigney Residence – 256 Independence .
Architectural Control Committee: Dave Orel was pleased to announce 4 new homes
in the building process plus 1 new home still in the planning process. Also, 6 permits for new decks, roofs, +. And 10
permits for fences and such.
Safety Committee:
Allen MaGee requested additional members to join this committee.
Roads Committee:
Jerry Wright – Chris Wasson
explained a plan to combine 2 years of budgeted Road funds to be better equipped
for ‘staging’ of materials needed.

Financial Highlights:
Long Range Planning Committee: Joe Ormsby asked the Board and our new GM be an active part of the Long Range Planning Committee.
Scum Pond
Liza Stephens explained the need for 25 Grass Carp to be purchased
@ $6.00 per carp and placed in the 1st pond at DH’s front entrance. These
fish will eat all the vegetation in the front pond, most importantly the Mill
Weed that has covered this pond and has spilled over to the second pond due to
heavy rains. Mill Weed is extremely fast
growing. The grass carp are distinguished
as Tripoli Fish = fish that will not reproduce.
Guardian Angle Rabies
Clinic will be held again this year on November 12, 10:am à
4:pm in the Club House. More information
will be shared next weeks Board meeting.
Discussion:
Chris made it clear that this is a "proposal only", "thinking out loud", "want to receive input from the community".
- Several expressed the desire for 24/7 security.
- Why pay rent for a PD facility ??? Is it possible to buy?
- The new facility would provide a holding room for someone in handcuff, instead of using the picnic bench outside in full view of those entering Diamondhead.
- Chief Joel Tyner's desired new facility has been approved by the F.B.I.
- One dispatcher would remain in the old facility and one in the new facility.
- Chief Tyner has checked with the state - As long as the PD is off the private community property, the state can assist in the funding of this new 'proposed' Police Department.
- It is important to note: no guarantee for financial assistance from the state.
- We will still have all the current expenses of current PD.
- How does this proposal differ from the proposal presented 2 years ago?
- Will the insurance liability go up? Answer: Yes
- If the Golf Course & 19th Hole were operating without financial loss, we could enhance the PD without increasing the POA dues.
- GM Dennis Dubuque promised to rectify the financial problems with the Golf Course & the 19th Hole.
- Before we go raise money to do this (police department) we should fix the things that are wrong- (paraphrased from Chris Wasson & GM Dennis Dubuque)
- Chris Wasson: There is still a lot to be worked out. No plan for the Board to vote on this issue at this point.
- Should the Board vote on this issue or should the entire community vote on this issue?
- Shouldn't this be an issue for the Long Range Planning Committee?
