Director Jim Ott comments on the financial status &
the developer status of Diamondhead:
(paraphrased)
Diamondhead’s demographics have changed. Those 618 lots that are no longer
paying dues are a good example of this dynamic change. The ‘developer’ is no longer selling DH lots. The POA cannot attract people from various
parts of the nation. “That is the developer’s job.” The developer / Grantor is allowing us to “wave
in the wind”. “I’m looking for a way for
the Board to put pressure on the developer to sell more lots so that we can
obtain more income for this property owner’s association.”
Sharon Carr:
Maybe the addition of Modular homes will entice new property owners.
Diane Porterfield:
This may be a good opening for discussion regarding possible changes to
the current Bill of Assurance. Last week’s
Candidates Night brought up the idea of adding Garden Homes, multi-family
units, etc. as additional options for prospective buyers into our community.
Jim Ott: These
are great ideas, but the POA does not have the capability to sell lots. The developer does and should. We need to explore all our options.
Diane Porterfield:
I suggest a committee be formed to look into this issue further. I agree with Jim.
GM Dennis Dubuque:
Some lots are being replated and sold as larger lots. The current developer is trying to sell this
development. So, nothing more is
expected until a new developer is in place.
The “developer” changed his status to “Grantor” several years ago.
Sharon Carr:
If he is no longer the developer, he should pay POA dues on the
650-1,000 (depending on the replated size) lots he owns.
President Gary Pritsch asked for any further discussion.
