Last night’s Board meeting was held in the ‘Card Room’. The Banquet Room was being used for an event. The door to the Card Room was left open to allow all members to feel free to enter. As the noise level increased outside the Card Room, it became necessary to close the door to the Card Room. However, the meeting remained ‘open’ to the DH members.

-Minutes of the December 16, 2010 meeting were approved.
Financial Report: Acting Treasurer Terry Shipp gave a review of the Financial Highlights. Mr. Shipp explained that 27 lots have been turned back to DRC, and of the 1,198 remaining lots -> 41% are currently delinquent. The POA has no lots in inventory other than the 5 “community lots” they will always have. [See Financial Highlights post dated Jan.21]
Old Business:
- Culvert on Stonebriar is in the process of completion by Bill Milligan. A vote to approve this action was taken and passed unanimously.
- A vote was taken to combine DPOA website with that of DRC. The board was unanimously in favor of this idea. GM Eric Markle will be working closely with the Public Relations Committee during the administration of this new site. The address for this website is: SeeDiamondhead.com

Focus ‘fact finding’ meeting: Eric brought the board up-to-date of his meeting with Virginia Sanders/coordinator of the Focus. It was explained that a basic 70 / 30 rule will apply; 70% news / 30% paid advertizing. Bulk mailed, printers, and advertizing were discussed. Mr. Markle will step in to make sure ‘the most efficient’ Focus will be provided.
Family Fun Center:
Mr. Massey did obtain a memorandum regarding Diamondhead Condo Hotel / Family Fun Center [Please see post with this title]. This memo was read with discussion following. Questions arose pertaining to Diamondhead’s agreement with Larry Brown. Answers are still forth coming. Jim Hannon asked Allen MaGee if there is currently a date set for closure of the property. Mr. MaGee explained that, yes, the date is set for ‘sometime in the middle of February…’. It was also stated that a similar date for closing was set in November, 2010 and again in December,2010.
Topics for Discussion:
1. Community Standards – GM Eric Markle was asked to drive through our community to evaluate various violations to our Standards. This was accomplished for one designated area of Diamondhead. Eric compiled a list of 56 violations.
- Discussion included: “We can not change the Bill of Assurance, but we can change the ‘Standards’ if we need to", Charles Wood.
- A motion was made by the Board of Directors on March 25th, 2010 and passed 7-1 "The Board will serve notice to the community that the Diamondhead Community Standards and Rules for storage and parking of boats, trailers, personal water craft, trucks and other vehicles not normally used for personal or family transportation will be strictly enforced effective October 1, 2010."
- A letter will be sent out to each member with a violation. That member has 15 days to comply. If the violation continues, there will be a charge of $100.00 per day.
- Eric told me today that he is hoping 400 people show up at our next Town Meeting to express their opinions and allow the General Manager & the Board to answer any and all questions concerning this important matter to this community.

2. Golf Course Maintenance Crew requested a Mule to be used for top dressing greens, etc. This efficient piece of equipment has been found and is in “very good condition”. A 2006 model, 12 horse power motor, asking price $3700.00, less if paid for in cash.
- Terry Shipp made a motion: “If they have unspent money in the budget, and the board approves of it, they should be able to spend it.”
- This motion was seconded and a vote revealed a unanimous decision in favor of this request.
3. No Dues Increase - Treasurer Tom Lockette and Financial Chairman Don Oseroff confirmed to President Ray Massey that there would be no dues increase this year.
4. Mr. Lee Hilborn was introduced as our full time officer, serving DH while Chief Pat Mahoney is on medical leave. Eric informed us that Chief Mahoney is still under a doctor’s care. At present time the doctor has not released him. Pat will be having a discussion with Eric sometime in the middle of February regarding his decision weather to come back to DH as our Chief of Police. Pat has been unpaid since the 3rd week of November, 2010.
5. Plans for a security light to be installed on the island at the South Gate entrance.
6. We do not have an assistant general manager. GM Eric Markle does have the right to utilize the personnel working under him. Eric is expected to be at the 19th Hole, as well as spending time in the entire community. He has been spending over 70 hours per week managing Diamondhead affairs. It became necessary to delegate some of his more mundane jobs to subordinates. It was agreed on, by the Board, to allow Todd Belz to fill in at the POA office during such times as the general manager required. This also gave Todd more working hours. Thus, Todd is receiving a $5,000.00 a year pay increase. (paraphrased from Ray Massey’s comments)
7. A Home Show will be February 11&12th. Be sure to go by the Diamondhead booth to say Hello to Eric.
8. Super Bowl Party / Chili Cook Off. Sunday, February 6th, 3:30pm. Bring your own chair, couch, or recliner to watch the 3 large screen TVs in the Banquet Room of the Club House.
9. The Fence around the Ponds. Rick Noffsinger and his wife have repaired the Split Rail fence, by finding materials needed. Some of the large brush has been removed, allowing for a much better view of Diamondhead.
10. Ray Massey asked Eric to find out when molting season is for the geese. The Wildlife Fish & Game Commission will come in and remove the geese, relocating them else where.
