President Massey called the meeting to order by thanking the community members for attending.

Financial Report:
Terry Shipp reviewed the Financial Highlights [see separate post]. Mr. Shipp explained the delinquency of lot dues are up to 41%, and house dues by 3%.

Focus:
GM Eric Markle spoke regarding a recent meeting with Virginia Sanders / Focus coordinator. It was noted that 1600 copies are published every other month, with a 7-8,000 dollar loss to Diamondhead. Discussion included ways to acquire more advertizing dollars, and lower expenses. Rick Noffsinger suggested hiring individuals to deliver the magazine instead of using the US Postal system, which is currently almost $400.00 each mailing. It was also suggested that the Focus could be picked up by each individual member at the POA office or the Club House. Other suggestions were requested from the membership. Currently a questionnaire can be found in the Focus for “How to make the Focus better”.

DRC Website: 
Suzie Combs gave a presentation to demonstrate the future possibilities of combining Diamondhead POA public Internet site with Diamondhead Resort Community’s Website. It was noted that DRC is currently paying 1,500 dollars per month for Arkansas Publishing Group / Megan Knight to administer their site. DRC proposed to add DH POA to their site for ‘Zero’ dollars. Mr. Allen MaGee confirmed that there would be no charge to DH POA “as long as we have the website”.
After some discussion, it was advised that GM Eric Markle would work closely with the Public Relations Committee chairman Tom Wright, if this idea is approved at the Board Meeting next Thursday. All Board / Committee minutes would not be included on this public website.

Fence Around the Ponds:
Eric described the need to take down the fencing surrounding the ponds near our front entrance. Rick Noffsinger expressed a desire to retain some kind of fence for esthetic purposes, and to maintain privacy for Diamondhead members. It was agreed that Rick and two others will look into this issue and report back to the Board.

 Architectural Control Committee:

Jack Watson – ACC liaison, reported on 5 open permits, 1 fence permit, and 1 remodel permit. It was also noted that the ACC is currently reviewing their policy & procedures manual. Nominating Committee:

Liaison Jim Hannon encouraged any member who is current on their dues & has ‘common sense’ to apply for one of the three positions opening up this year (August).

Roads Committee:

Terry Shipp described the $150,000.00 budget for the Roads, emphasizing the $35,000 need to replace culverts that are aging.

Social Committee:
Liaison Mary Pracht brought us up-to-date regarding activities planned for the next several months.

Family Fun Center / Diamondhead Condo/Hotel update:

President Massey asked Terry Shipp to bring us up-to-date. Terry and his wife attended a meeting, at the request of Larry and Reba Brown, which was held at the Malvern Western Sizzlin. During that meeting it was announced that half of the “Fun Center” would be used as an All Nations Evangelistic Training Center. This raised concern from the Board and members of the community. Mr. Massey said he would make every effort to meet with Mr. Brown next week. The property for this venture has not been purchased. (Note: correction made by Terry Shipp regarding name of 'Training Center')

BINGO:

As a member of the Lion’s Club, Jim Hannon explained that 75% of all proceeds for the Saturday night BINGO will go back to this community.  Currently the winnings stand at $300.00.

~Betts Winsor made a request of Suzie Combs to have a list of things she has done to promote the Club at our next Town Meeting.

~President Massey expressed his desire for all residents to feel free to call him regarding any issue or concern they deem important. He wants to hear from you! With this in mind, he read a letter from a concerned citizen regarding the current pictures hanging in the Banquet Room. After some discussion by the residents, it was suggested that any “decorating” should be done with consultation from our Decorating Committee [Alberta Hance, Teresa Commings, & Suzie Combs]. It was also noted that a policy had been established: Decorating: The use of nails, thumbtacks, staples, tape, glue or other fasteners in the room may damage or mar the walls and are prohibited.
