Standards Committee Meeting – Feb. 25, 2011

Members Present:
Rick Noffsinger - Chairman                          Diane Jones
Diane Porterfield - Secretary                        Faye Taylor
Teresa Davis                                                Charles Smith
Rene Sparrow                                              Debbie Clement
Barbara Sloan                                              Jack Watson – Liaison

Meeting began by introducing ourselves and expressing our love for Diamondhead Community. We each explained our personal interest as to the focus of the Community Standards.

Chairman Rick Noffsinger described the mandate for this committee as directed by the DH POA Board of Directors. Rick further explained that we have a deadline of March 24th to put together this committee’s recommendations for the Board. The next meeting for the Town meeting / Board meeting is March 24th.

Next, we were brought up-to-date on this committee’s history by Diane Jones and Diane Porterfield. Many of the struggles and successes were expressed in an attempt to explain some of the dynamics involved to the new members.

Than we started brainstorming! That was the fun part! Each time a suggestion was made it felt like a light bulb click on (or off). It was great to have Jack Watson [Board liaison for the ACC] present. We were able to bounce some ideas around and receive his insight. The result of our first meeting (1:20 in length) indicated a very successful beginning to this project.

Here is the plan, thus far:
Focus – RVs, boats, and trailers
Permits – review of individual issues
• ACC would issue a “permit” for individual homeowners with legitimate issues. Decal / sign posted to indicate compliance.
• Police Department would enforce action taken by the Board.
• Limit the number of RVs, boats, trailers with designated area of placement on property.

Our committee will divide into smaller groups to meet separately during the following week. Each group of 3-4 people will put together their ideas for implementing the standards as discussed. We will meet as a committee again on March 10th, 6:30 pm. This meeting will consist of sharing ideas and combining our efforts into a completed document.

Please feel free to contact any of the committee members for your input into this matter.

Respectfully submitted,
Diane Porterfield – Secretary
