Board Meeting – 7:10 pm
All Board members present
President Ray Massey opened the meeting with prayer.
The question that was asked in the Town meeting by Jerry McAnear was asking for an update on the Family Fun Center. During the intermission between meetings, Larry Brown met Mr. Massey and presented him with a letter. This letter was than read to the community members by Mr. Massey.
I hope to have a copy of this letter to post. Essentially, Mr Brown states that he is interviewing 3 new contractors for the Family Fun Center. The property has not been purchased.
The March Board minutes were approved.
Financial Report as given during the Town meeting was approved.
Old Business:
H3 Status was presented as a motion by Jack Watson. There was no second. “Motion died from lack of second.”
Employee bonus plan was presented by GM Markle:
• At 5 years of employment the employee would receive $500.00
• At 10 years of employment the employee would receive $1,000.00
• At 15 years of employment the employee would receive $1,500.00
• At 20 years of employment the employee would receive $2,000.00
It was decided to table this discussion for 6 months.
New Business:
Chemicals for the golf greens: Eddie would like to start a process of “Drill & Fill” on the greens. The cost will be $6,526.00 for the process for 9 holes. This dollar amount has already been added to this year’s budget.
The motion to accept this purchase was approved unanimously.
Vote on New Police Chief: President Massey asked the Board members if they would like to go into Executive Session or vote publicly. The decision was to vote publicly by a raise of hands. Betts Winsor moved to offer the job of Police Chief to Joel Tyner. Motion was seconded by Doc Norwood. All in favor are: Charles Wood, Betts Winsor, Mary Pracht, Terry Shipp, and Doc Norwood. All opposed are: Jim Hannon, Tom Lockette, and Jack Watson. Joel Tyner is our new Police Chief.
Purchase of Street Sweeper: The bid is $2,500.00 plus $100.00 for delivery fee. The motion was approved. The Street Roller will be discussed at the next Board meeting.
This year’s audit:
Mary Pracht moved to use the same auditor as last year. Motion carried.
Fire Works: Betts Winsor asked GM Markle to provide a donation box for Fire Works display. These donations can be combined with last year’s donations that were not used.
Family Fun Center: Jack Watson made a motion to contact our attorney regarding Diamondhead Condo Hotel Ltd. (Family Fun Center). Their agreement says that they will contribute $25,000.00 annually to the DHPOA in addition to $36,000.00 in dues. This agreement was signed on June 11th, 2010. That, this agreement be considered ‘Null & Void’ due to their failure to live up to the contract. Mary Pracht seconded this motion.
Jim Hannon explained that the $25,000 was not in any way assumed that it would be paid before the construction was completed.
Terry Shipp: Personally, I never expected for them to pay anything before it was built. But, if the letter says that they would pay $25,000 annually, there is no harm in sending them a letter with a copy of the agreement and asking them what their thoughts are. I never thought they would pay us anything until they built the thing.
This motion was approved unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned.
