JoAnn Rhodes – a candidate for the Board of Directors

JoAnn & Mike moved to Diamondhead in 2002 from Little Rock area where she grew up. JoAnn attended LR Central High School and ASU Beebe at Jacksonville Air Base. JoAnn is very proud of her daughter - Pamela, son - Robert, and 3 grandsons.

JoAnn retired at the end of 2009 from Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield of Little Rock after 23 years of service in the cost accounting department. While there, she served twelve years in organizing the yearly employees’ golf tournament with two years bringing the tournament to Diamondhead.

Experience:
• 2011 - President of the 18 Holers – representing 30+ ladies in the Golf Committee
• 2009 / 2011 Member of Diamondhead Lion’s Club – Team member of BINGO
• 2008 - Women’s Elks Emblem Club member
• Monetary donations to the Beautification Committee and Golf Tournaments
• Served 6 terms on the enterprise Employees Committee – a liaison between 2,500 employees and the employer.
• 2000 Served a Senior Regionant for the Moose Association as a volunteer in the community of Sherwood with various schools, civic and golf activities.
• 1997-1999 Served 2 years as Moose Lodge Bookkeeper in Sherwood.
• 12 years in accounting with John Deere

Goals for Diamondhead:
JoAnn wants to be a part of continued improvements on DH roads, increasing the profitability of our golf course, accountability of the Diamondhead Property Owners Association (DPOA) Board Members, and keeping our residents safe.

JoAnn believes that the board of directors should be supportive of the general manager. The board of directors’ responsibility to the GM is to provide direction, resources and advice when asked; most importantly, freedom from interference and micro-management. The GM should be given the opportunity to succeed by his own actions, decisions and abilities. JoAnn understands that an effective GM is critical to the success of Diamondhead. The composition of the Board changes annually. A strong, effective GM, when given the freedom to manage as he/she has been educated and trained, would provide the continuity needed for stability and progress.
