Agenda Meeting 9/18/14

As the first order of business, Vice President Ken Benck led Director Gordon Moore in reciting the Oath of Office for the DHPOA Board.  Welcome Gordon!


A Straw Vote was confirmed regarding the construction cost of a culvert on Independence Drive.  The initial estimated cost of $11,025.00 plus an additional cost for extra gravel of $300.00 = Total $11,325.00 was paid to Bill Milligan Construction.

The Board received a request to ‘consider posting the front pond for Children/Youth fishing only’.   After some discussion, GM James Turner summed up the comments by stating:  “We don’t need to add another non-enforceable rule.” 
          *  Traditionally,  Arkansas Game & Fish Commission stock the front pond once a year for the Lion’s Club Annual Fishing Derby.

It was announced by President Mary Pracht that the Agenda, Town & Board meetings will continue with the Agenda meeting on the 3rd Thursday of each month @ 7:pm.
The Town meeting will begin at 6:pm on the 4th Thursday of each month followed by a short break; à  The Board meeting will begin as close to 7:pm as possible.

Legal Issues:
The Board will be announcing the name of the new Law Firm representing Diamondhead.  Attorney Jonathon Jones is no longer representing DH.

Ensminger vs. Chambliss vs. DPOA has been postponed due to the change of the Ensminger attorney.
·       New PreTrial motions date:  December 18th 2014
·       Trial date set for February 4th – 6th

Long Range Planning Committee will be led by GM James Turner.  Only 2 property owners have signed up.


Police Department needs new radios
  • This request has been an issue for a couple of years.  Security Committee Liaison Ken Benck explained the need for digital communication radios vs. the current Analog system.   The Hot Springs Police Department has gone to digital radios à no longer accessible with DH analog radios.
  • Approximate cost:  $500.00 each
  • All Analog radios will be passed on to the maintenance department.  Eddie’s Crew currently use a radio system that is duck-taped together.

Political Signage
The Board would like to remind the community of the need to seek permission from the POA office before any political signs are placed in your yard.

Lion’s Club Donation  The Board will be voting to approve the following donations:
  • Pop-corn machine
  • 50 cup coffee urn

 Complaints may be submitted anonymously.  This form may be obtained from the DH Website:  http://0101.nccdn.net/1_5/224/274/007/GENERAL-CONCERN-FORM.pdf
Simply print out this form, fill in the information, and drop the completed form into the mail slot at the POA office.  Mail will be picked up daily.

Pond Scum
The Front Pond, located to the right of the Entrance into Diamondhead, looks like the Emerald City!  
GM James Turner has been in conversation with Riviera & EPA in an attempt to combat the over growth of chlorophyll. 

Lake Hamilton Fire & Rescue is having an Open House & Fire Wise Demonstration October 11th @ 10:am -> 2:pm
More information will be available at the Town Meeting.

Social Committee chairman Debbie Clement announced the planning of a big social event to be held on October 12th.  German Brautz – Karaoke Music – Beer on tap – October Fest, Sonny Burgess
