Town & Board Meetings for September 25, 2014

Town Meeting began at 6:pm

President Mary Pracht welcomed all to the first Town Meeting of the new 2014-15 year and asked for a report from each of the twelve (12) committees.  See Committee / Chairperson/ Liaison

Debbie Clement has applied for a Liquor License Permit to better prepare for the various Social Events planned for Diamondhead.

WildLife Committee –Larry Hibbs announced the committee’s intent to donate $1,500.00 to the cost of providing radios for the Police Department. President Pracht expressed the community’s appreciation.

Deliquent Home Owners

2013-2014 Audit Report will be available in the POA office next week for review.  

Youth Committee –Diane Jones:
  • Grand Opening of the Disc Golf Course: Sunday, October 12 @ 3:pm
      • A few golf disc sets available for players to borrow.  We recommend participants bring their own.
      • The Youth Committee will be selling chances to win a disc set
      • Youth Com. will be joining the Social Com. in serving the Bratwurst at OctoberFest.
      • Halloween Trunk or Treat – October 31st – 6-9pm – Club House Parking Lot
        • Prizes for Best Trunk / Truck, & Best Customs

Beautification Committee –Diane Jones:  New offices have been elected and watering teams formed.  Click on picture to view latest report:

  • Up coming events:  Bake Sale & Christmas Lights  -- Volunteers Requested !
  • Next Meeting:  October 8th –First Tuesday of every month at 4pm –in the Library

General Manager’s Report –James Turner:
  • Financial Information à $92.00 ‘in the hole’ ß “The closest we have been to Budget in 14 years!”
    • A suggestion was made by a community member to form a ‘plan’ to reduce the discrepancy between golf course costs & revenue.  President Mary Pracht suggested GM James Turner, the Finance Committee & Golf Committee get together to institute this ‘plan’. 
      • GM James Turner is the chairman of the Long Range Planning Committee.  Volunteers are Requested. à 262-4970
      • Faye Taylor is contacting auto dealerships with golf packages for employee rewards / benefits.
  • Resort Cable has begun surveying in Diamondhead CommunitySee Agenda Meeting Notes.

Director Diane Jones announced the beginning of Road Oil & Gravel repair starting Monday, September 29th.  “Be careful of loose gravel.”

Board Meeting – September 25, 2014

Meeting began at 7:13 pm

All Board members present.

General Manager Report à see Town Meeting Notes

Old Business:
  • Continuation of Ensminger / Chambliss / DPOA Trial
    • PreTrial Motions ….December 16th
    • Trial dates …………February 4, 5, 6th

  • Formal Ratification of Culvert Repairs on Independence Dr.
    • Unanimously approved

New Business:
  • Police Department request for new radios
    • Unanimously approved for $5,639.00
  • Donation from Lions Club
    • $300.00 Pop Corn machine
    • $80.00 Coffee pot
      • Unanimously approved
  • Political Signs:  Director Gordon Moore suggested the Board concern themselves ‘with more pressing issues’.  GM Turner stated that no ‘official’ complaint / concern form has been filed.  Secretary JoAnn Rhodes was told by President Mary Pracht that she may post her Political Sign in her front yard.  No vote taken.
  • Treasurer John Porter passed out a revised financial budget to each board member.  This revision is due to the change in the 19th Hole management.  This Revision will be voted on during October’s Board meeting [October 23rd].
  • Line of Credit will expire at the end of October.  It was agreed upon by the Board to allow the line of Credit to expire.
  • Youth Fishing idea presented by property owners was denied due to the lack of police enforcement and the need for all DH members to have access to the front ponds.  President Pracht stated, “leave the fishing ponds as is”.
