GM Update:
As noted above, Mr. Dubuque may be in attendance at next week’s Board
meeting.
This announcement was made during last month’s Annual
meeting:
We are pleased to announce that Dennis Dubuque has accepted the General Manager position in Diamondhead. Dennis has experience in managing people, processes and golf courses. He has a strong passion for customer service, and he also has a background in construction. Due to prior obligations, Dennis will join the Diamondhead team around October 1st, 2016
Committee Sign-up / Structure: Members are asked to join our various
committees to be an active part of our community. Your volunteer efforts go a long way to
improving relationships, understanding community needs, and enhancing our
shared environment.
- President Wasson will be naming the Chairs of each committee during September’s Board meeting.
- Committee Reports are expected during each Town meeting for Board and Town updates and better communication within Diamondhead’s membership.
Community Standards: President Wasson introduced the process by
which community members may report needs / infractions of Community Standards Rules & Regulations. To view these Standards, please click here. Interesting
discussion followed regarding these rules:
- Should members contact their neighbor regarding the violation of a Community Standard regulation? …or… Should the member be allowed to remain anonymous?
- The POA office has ‘complaint forms’ that may be filled out without signatures.
- Why are some infractions allowed while other similar violations are fined?
- Answer: Some neighbors voice their complaints, while others do not.
- Should all Standard Rules & Regulations be enforced with or without complaint filed?
- Why are the Community Standards not recognized by all POA members?
- It was suggested to add a sampling of our Rules & Regs to weekly Constant Contact announcements / email messages from the POA office.
- The current 2012 Community Standards was instituted by a specifically authorized committee – taking several weeks of effort and community cooperation through surveys and expressed interest for a “golfing” and “boating” community – and Approved by the 2012 Board of Directors. Revised June, 2015.
- All efforts will be made to convey our community standards. The final responsibility of compliance falls on the individual Diamondhead member.
Pool Hours:
It has been suggested that our pool should be open longer during Summer
afternoons & evenings. Current hours
are 11:am à
7:pm The Board will discuss options for
next year’s pool season.
Front Gate:
President Chris Wasson expressed his frustration regarding the failings
of the front gate system. Vice President
Larry Hibbs has also voiced his concerns regarding the gate malfunctions since
the inception of the installation by Integrated. Chief Joel Tyner offered his concerns, as
well.
- The ‘tail gating’ feature “does not work”.
- The Speed Bump / Spike Strip springs break and was installed above the specified 4 inch height.
- Key pad will allow anyone with a pass code through the gate.
- Click on Gate Cards for historic information regarding this issue.
- DPOA Attorney will be contacted for advisement.
Police Log:

Police Department 24/7: Does the community want to go back to having
a full time Police Department? It was
strongly suggested that this subject be addressed to the entire community with
advanced notice.
- President Wasson agreed to have Town Meeting Agenda posted at least a week in advance of Town meetings to provide opportunity for membership input.
- The POA office will send out a Constant Contact / email message with the Town Meeting Agenda attached. Other sources may be used for better communication.
- History of past community discussion on this topic can be found on The Blog. DH Police Department
Scum Pond: Resident John Porter updated the membership
of the Fountain that is to be used for the aeration of the #1 Front Pond to alleviate
the green scum from the pond (s). During
the 14 inches of rain received this summer, the scum flowed across the road
into Pond #2 & #3.
·
Riviera Utilities has promised to pay half of
the $2,500 cost of the Fountain.
·
Other suggestions by residents for this clean-up
of the ponds:
o Cooper
Sulfate
o Triploid

Returned Lots Proposal: A proposal has been made to allow any
returned lot that is current on its annual dues be deeded to a builder for
speculation home building. Stipulations
for this process are being discussed.
Foreclosures: “Yes, we are”…following up with foreclosures. We are “$100,000 ahead on cash flow”.
- 16 homes turned over to the POA attorney
- 20 new homes in Diamondhead.
A question was raised regarding the Treasurer's Report as made available at this meeting. President Chris Wasson explained that the Treasurer's Report was not part of tonight's meeting and welcomed this subject to be added to next month's Agenda.
