Beautification Committee ~ Kay Calderon expressed her appreciation for all those who came out to the Pancake Breakfast to support the committee’s efforts.  Thanks went to GM Dennis for his participation in cooking outstanding pancakes.  “Next year we do plan to have more so we don’t run out of food…  We had a turnout bigger than we’ve ever had.”

Finance Committee ~  John Porter stated due to ‘a turn over in the office’ the financial statement was not prepared at this time.  ‘We expect our auditors to come in the next 3-4 weeks.’ The new accountant, Tanya Boland, should have this information for the Board meeting next week.

Roads Committee ~ Bob Jones explained the list of pot-holes that will be filled in the near future.  New culverts on Scenic and Armstrong.  GM Dennis explained the difference in the material used to fill pot-holes will determine its ability to pack firmly together.  A phone call to the ‘black top’ manufacturer will provide information as to which kind of material is being made at that time.  The more coarse material will not last.

Public Safety Committee ~ Allen Magee & his committee are continuing to research and plan for a secure gate / Police protection.   Bids are being sought before a report can be submitted to the Board.
  • Question:  How much will this cost the POA?  Answer:  $25-30,000.

Wild Life Committee ~ DJ Bell announced funds were provided for 10 yards of gravel at the Pavilion / basket ball court area.  Several residents helped to spread the gravel.  The Wild Life Committee teamed up with Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry to donate 100 pounds of deer meat to Arkansas needy families.

Nominating Committee ~ Bob Jones brought us up-to-date on the candidates running for the 4 positions next August.  Currently there are 3 firm commitments.  If you would like to serve as a Board Director, please submit your name before the last working day of April à the 28th of this month.  The office is closed on Friday.  Please contact anyone on the Nominating committee:

There will be an election if 4 or more candidates apply.

By Laws Committee:  President Gary Pritsch announced the formation of a committee to review the By Laws and submit recommendations to the Board.  If you would like to serve on this committee, please contact any Board member [contact info is located at the top right hand corner of this Blog] or contact the POA office:  262-4470.

Current Issues:

Lot Transfers:  A POA / DRC (Diamondhead Resort Community / Developer) agreement dated December 2008 was discussed in relationship to the current status of transferring lots quit-claimed back to the POA to DRC for a return of $300 per lot.  This agreement acknowledges that DRC is the Developer.
  • 25 lots have been ‘redeemed’ back to DRC since Jan. 1st.
  • The agreement states: "…other valuable considerations"
    • Director Sharon Carr clarified this to mean $150,000.00 was forgiven when the POA office was built.
  • DRC has not ‘developed’ in DH for 2.5 years.
  • No contact has been made between the current Board / management and DRC regarding this issue.
  • DRC is for sale.  All DRC lots are listed on one MLS listing through DH Realty.
  • 651 Homes pay POA dues -- 15 Homes are delinquent = 666 Homes
  • Of the 986 lots currently recorded as owned by POA members, 563 are delinquent.
    • 570 lots were turned over to the POA attorney for collection. $20,000 has been received
  • No stats are known for the number of lots owned by DRC or those lots owned by the State of Arkansas.
  • Roads are in need of repair / make over.
  • Wanted:  A new developer with a desire to enhance Diamondhead !

·     ⇰  Editor’s opinion:  It is important to show respect for our General Manager and duly elected Board Members (Yes! whether they deserve it or not!).  They, in turn, will show respect for you as each statement, opinion, or frustration is presented in any public forum; Town Hall meetings or Internet sites.  We, as a community, voted these members into office to serve us.  Your VOTE on next year’s ballot will speak your opinion on their performance in office - without malice.

Meeting adjourned @ 8:25 pm
