WATER AEROBICS
Tues. & Thurs. 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Starting May 29 – Ending Aug. 30
What you need:
2 pool noodles (cut one equally into 2 shorter pieces)
Swimsuit & towel
Optional – water shoes (for those with sensitive feet)
*You will be asked to sign a waiver before your first class.
What to expect:
five minute warm-up and follow that with stretching.cardio routine for 20-25 minutes
strength training for 15 minutes
stretching for 5 minutes
The class is free and offered to adult Diamondhead residents. You don’t have to know how to swim; you can stay in the shallow end the whole time. Water aerobics is easier on your joints, muscles and your heart than many other aerobic exercises. You can increase or lower the intensity to match the fitness level that your body needs and that you know you can handle. If there is a move you are uncomfortable performing, you can do something else. No one can see what you’re doing underwater!
It’s a great way to meet and mingle with your neighbors. We have a good time and listen to some good music while getting in a good work out.
The pool noodles are used for strength training. Thicker pool noodles create more resistance and more buoyancy, but are harder to get your hands around. The two smaller noodles act as hand weights (water weights can be purchased at most sporting goods stores for a bit more money).
Disclaimer:
No children are allowed in the premises during class time because there is no life guard on duty. I am not licensed to instruct; the moves that I use in class are what I have learned from the previous instructor, Gerry Nichols, water aerobics books and videos. If you have any questions, you can contact me by e-mail danamyers@mail.com or call my cell phone at (904) 864-4530. Leave me a voice mail and I will call you back.
You can give me your pool pass or turn it in to the cashier’s counter at the pool.
