16 -17years of age ~ M-Th 10:pm Weekends 11:pm
State Park Curfew is 10:pm for everyone.

Alcohol Beverage Control Board – Charlie DavisResident of Diamondhead. Charlie informed the kids: Stay away from the wrong crowd. Curfew means you are suppose to be a home. If I see you out after curfew, I will turn you in to Chief Tyner. I have taken kids to detention centers. A DWI will go against your record and hinder your future. My son did not drive a golf cart until he was old enough. Parents & Grandparents are not doing their kids a favor by allowing them to drive a golf cart under age. If I see this happening, I will turn you in the Chief.
Fire Chief Simpson brought coloring books, hats, etc. for the children. Matt informed us that the Fire Department handles boating accidents. "We come in late hours of the night and have come close to hitting kids that are wearing dark color clothes. PLEASE wear light colors at night! ...If you have a child, or know of a child that has a tendency to play with fire, tell us. So, we can get them into a fire prevention program. ... Know the fire safety rules: Learn how to get out of your house quickly, and don't go back in. Have a meeting place designated. .... We have free Carbon Monoxide poison kits. Please come by and pick one up for your house. ... I am really scared that one day we will have a skateboarder under a car. Help us help you. Kids you are smart enough to know these rules. If you are going to light a fire, call the front gate to let us know. We are hoping our Fire Score will go from a 5 to a 3. This will save you money. We have a cadet program for 12 years of age - up. Please call us.
We work closely with the police and fire departments. A lot of people seem to think that State Parks are free to do anything you want. That is not true. All the rules for Hot Springs County apply to Lake Catherine State Park. I will enforce these rules. You will be prosecuted for violating the law. Four wheelers that destroy the road ways will be confiscated. It will become MY 4-wheeler. There are lots of consequences for your actions. The State Highway out here, and all the 'spurs' (smaller road ways off the highway) are controlled by state laws. We do close the big long trail during hunting season, but the smaller trails are open. Come out and enjoy the park.
Chief Tyner spoke for Ms Sheppard: We are implementing Community Service. We are not 'looking over it' any more. If you break the rules, you will be placed in Community Service. I am going to put you to work: Cars need to be washed; golf balls need to be picked up; windows to be cleaned. We will not tolerate juvenile disobedience any more. We have kids that are out at 2-3 am. Where are your parents? This is sad. There are some parents that will be complaining, "they can't do that". Watch. We are. If I catch you out after curfew, I will ID you & take you home. If your parents are not home, I will call them so they can get home. We are going to stop the trouble makers.
The city curfew is 11:00pm. The parents spoke up asking for an earlier time.
Garland County Sheriff's Office (G.C.S.O) - Clayton Green
We can hold 22 kids in the juvenile detention center. Kids are brought into detention for violating the curfew law. Most of the kids we have in the detention center are choosing not to attend school. We have 'drunk goggles' that can be used to teach kids. Kids are housed in the Hot Springs County Center, because Garland County does not have a jail or a detention center. We have juvenile & parenting classes. Please give us a call.
AR State Police - Troop - Mike Reed
Every year there is at least one kid involved in an alcohol related accident. Alcohol arrests are going down, but prescription drug arrests are going up. "Skittle Party" - kids bring prescription drugs from home, put them in a large bowl, kids grad a handful and take them. They have no idea what they are taking. Parents: pay attention to your prescription drugs! 75% of our arrests are drug related.
Resident of Diamondhead. I am a point of contact for juveniles. Don't ever repeat the same mistake twice. Learn from your mistakes. We allow our son to make mistakes so he will learn from it. But, also allow your child to pay the price for that mistake. So, he can learn before it becomes life altering mistakes. 90% of kids that grow up to be the criminals that we deal with on a daily basis are ones whose parents did not care. Diamondhead is a small, close knit community. Call us when you know of a child that needs our attention.
Diamondhead Police Officer - Josh
I started working in DH about 3 months ago. I see young kids driving golf carts. This is not allowed, with or without parents. The child must be 14 years or older, with a licensed driver (with at least one year of experience driving). The golf carts must have 2 head lights up front, 2 tail lights in the rear, a flag of at least 6 feet high, to operate on Diamondhead streets. No golf cart is to operate on the State Highway. No 4-wheeler or golf cart may cross the State Highway. All golf carts must stay within Diamondhead gates. 4-Wheelers are only allowed under the electrical power lines.
Diamondhead Youth Committee – Kathy DeVilbiss
Kathy thanked all the volunteers who have helped with the youth in DH. Some of the things that are being planned: movie nights, X-box events, pool parties, face painting, no/low cost events for the kids. We need your support for fund raisers: Pizza coupons, yard sale, etc. We would love to hear your ideas. Please give us your email address if you would like to be informed.
Diamondhead Chief of Police – Joel Tyner
The school buses are full with kids. We need to respect the bus driver and the bus. Drugs, alcohol and pills will not be allowed in Diamondhead. Don't do it! Give me a call if you know of anyone trying to sell you drugs. Or, if you have problems on the school bus, bullying, or anything else. We are here to answer any of your questions, and provide solutions. Please make sure your kids know the phone numbers for the police department, and 911.

Parents made comments: Please walk on the sides of the road, not right in the middle. Please know that the drivers can not always see you when the sun is shining in their eyes, or it is dark. If the parents will not discipline their children, the neighbors will, by informing Chief Tyner. Chief Tyner WILL take action. Parents will be fined for the actions of their children. Bullying is a problem. Meet the parents of your child's friends. Chief Tyner received many thanks & applause for having this meeting.
