Town Meeting – December 9^th, 2011

President Rick Noffsinger welcomed DPOA members to the town meeting, explaining that this would be the only meeting held by the Board during the month of December this year.

Committee Reports:

Social Committee – Karen White

            Diamondhead Social Committee Fundraiser – Buy your tickets for a $500 Visa Credit Card.  Tickets will be drawn on 12-17 for the winner – need not be present.  $5 per ticket - $20 for 5 tickets.
            New Year’s Eve Party – Diamonds Are Forever – December 31^st –Club House 7pm till …  Code Blue – Live Band  Champagne toast and breakfast at Midnight    $25 per person

Golf Committee – DeOtis Cotton

            Committee met with Dennis (Pro Shop).  A lot of suggestions were made.  #7 Tee box will be redone with funds that were raised by the sale of Fire Wood.  Fire Wood is still for sale.   A golf cart recommendation was tabled until next meeting.  The following is a list of the Golf Committee members:  Jim Ryan, Michael Rhodes, Mike McBride, Vic Shawnburg, Tom Clark, Terry Shipp, Donnie Donihue, Byron Efird, Max & Lou English, & DeOtis Cotton.

ACC – Jack Watson

            5 open permits for homes, 3 permits for remodels, 1 for shed.   Some of the homes have been completed but are waiting to be sold.  After a permit is 6 months old, DPOA begins collecting dues whether the home is sold or not.
            Concrete drive-ways may now extend to the roadways / with expansion joint.
            Applications for permits:  Building, Fence, Swimming Pool, Storage building, Roofing.  Discussion followed regarding roofing / repair work.  Several individuals objected to the need for a “permit” to repair their own home.  John Cumming, a past ACC Committee member, suggested that the ACC continue to allow individuals the freedom to make repairs to their own homes as they see fit, without the need for an additional permit.  It was also noted that any security issues regarding roofing contractors should be dealt with by the Police Department and / or Security committee.  Not the Architectural Control Committee.

Lion’s Club Marquee’ – John Cumming

            BINGO funds have paid for the new Electronic Marquee that has been placed on the rock wall, next to the Tiki, at the Front entrance.  John congratulated Barbara Sloan for her 5 year long work on this project.  Thank you Barbara!

Finance Committee – Byron Efird
            The committee met last Wednesday.  Byron suggested Diamondhead employees be given a 5-7 percent raise if possible. 

19^th Hole Report – GM Sarah Dawson

            Inventory:  Food 36%, Liquor 62%, Beer & Wine 64%  “A major improvement from last month.  We are seeing good results from accurate inventories.  We have put several safeguards / security in place, portion control, more consistency among employees.”  Sarah Dawson.   Rick Noffsinger:  The Country Club is a work in progress.  This board has inherited a problem.  It has been a problem since I have lived here for 7 years.  The Country Club has always been subsidized by the home owners with a large amount of money.  Two months ago we changed the locks on the 19^th Hole, pinning down tight security in the 19^th Hole.  Too many individuals had keys to this facility.  We now only have 4 keys to the 19^th Hole.  The security checks it on a regular basis.  We have certain procedures when we lock up at night.  Through the recommendation from Byron, we started an inventory system.  At the end of every month, we inventory everything.  We are now able to get a grip on what is/has been going on.  Such as the waste of food from the Sunday Buffets – we now only operate off the menus.  In my opinion regarding the liquor, we have stopped it from walking out the door.  We have stopped actual theft in process thanks to Chief Joel Tyner.  ….we now have backup plans in effect.  There is no reason that the 19^th Hole should not pay for itself.

All parents are encouraged to attend.  Diamondhead has never followed the laws regarding curfews in this community.  Joel will be enforcing the existing laws of Garland and Hot Springs Counties.
