Hazardous waste collection

Garland & Hot Spring counties are having a hazardous waste collection at the Garland County Fairgrounds on Sat. Oct. 13th from 8am to 1pm. There was an article in the Sunday Sentinel-Record. This is for household quantities of waste - not for contractors. Items accepted are products in the original closed container with labels attached:
  • Automotive products such as antifreeze, brake fluid, transmission fluid, waxes, polishes or cleaning compounds and used motor oil
  • Paints, thinners, strippers, and solvents and other non-chlorinated solvents
  • Household over the counter pesticides and herbicides incl. pet care products
  • water based cleaners
  • oxidizers and bleaches
  • compressed gas cylinders
  • old kerosene and diesel fuel
  • electronic waste ie. monitors, computers, keyboards, mice, VCR and DVD players, TV's 19" or smaller, electronic games, microwaves [also accepted weekdays 7am to 3:30pm at Regional Recycling Center, 218 Runyon St.]
  • passenger car tires

    Unacceptable items:
  • explosives ie. dynamite, blasting caps and ammunition
  • any unknown product
  • gasoline
  • oil filters
  • lead acid batteries
