Police Message

Chief Joel Tyner called Diane Porterfield regarding Diamondhead Security on Wednesday, August 21, 8:30 am.  Diane asked Joel to send a message to the Blog relaying the information discussed in an effort to explain the facts to the community.  Since that has not, yet, happened, the following information is provided below:

1. The out going front gate has been hit multiple times due to residents not knowing whether the gate will shut or not.  This damage to the gate has caused both gates to malfunction.  The gates are 'old and parts are hard to find' / difficult to replace.
2. The financial budget for the Security Department does not allow 24 / 7 security patrol or gate personnel.
3. Chief Joel Tyner's statement during the Annual Meeting on August 17th: 'Yes, we have 24 hour security for Diamondhead.'  Explanation:  Security Officer patrols the roads of Diamondhead until 3:am.  Community members are requested to dial 262-1631 for DH Police Department. After 'normal business hours' all calls are re-directed to Hot Springs / Garland County Police Department (911). These calls are than forwarded as needed.
