Meeting was underway when I arrived at 7:08.Treasurers Report – Tom Lockette
Tom was finishing the Treasurer’s report. …We have $6,300 bad debit expense that exceeds budget. But I think as we get more payments in on dues we will see that also come into line with the budget.
President Ray Massey: “Thank you Tom. Just in ol’ country language, think we are doing okay?” Tom agreed. Treasurer’s report was approved by the Board.
Mr Massey read a letter that was given to him by Larry Brown and dated May 26th. This letter was literally the same as the letter dated 4-27-11. The “Please help me” was changed to “Please pray for your community” and a “P.S.” added that read: “We are still interviewing contractors.” See post dated 5-4-11
Later … GM Eric Markle was asked if he had heard from Attorney Jonathan Jones regarding the contract between Diamondhead POA and the Diamondhead Condo Hotel Ltd. (
OLD BUSINESS:
Street Roller:
A vibratory street roller has been found that would be use to pack the ‘chip & seal’ for our roads. The street sweeper was purchased last month and the roller ‘completes’ the plan. Tom Lockette: The long term plan is we might work our way into a position that we can do ‘chip & seal’. Charles Wood moved to make this purchase. Doc Ladies Golf: A resolution was read during the Town & Board Meetings. Please see post dated 5-27-11 titled “Women’s Golf Day – Resolution”. This resolution was passed unanimously.
Purchase of a Rough-Cut Mower: Tom Lockette made a motion to purchase a rough-cut mower for a maximum of $11,000. It was also suggested that the offer be $9,000 for this mower that has been leased by DHPOA for the last 3 years. A new mower would cost $35,000. Betts Winsor asked if this was part of our Capital Budget. Answer: we can spend up to $10,000. It was noted that money was saved on the road equipment and could be used toward the purchase of this mower. “This would still be within our budget”. Motion was passed unanimously.
Swimming Pool:
Pool has just been filled with water. Pipes were replaced. The rust looking stain on the bottom of the pool can not be clean with the water in the pool. The pool has passed inspection and is safe to use, but it looks “ugly”.
The choices are: 1) Leave it like it is until next winter to be cleaned. 2) Drain the pool after Memorial Weekend, clean it with chemicals, and fill pool with water again. This will cost between 6 – 7 hundred dollars.
Charles Wood made a motion to leave the pool as it is. Motion was seconded by Jack Watson. Not approved by the Board. Tom Lockette suggested we ask Riveria to give us a break on the water. Betts Winsor said the pool does not look good. Jack Watson said we will be exceeding our budget for the pool. $31,000 is the cost to date, without this expense. Betts Winsor made the motion to spend the money. Motion approved with Jack Watson and Charles Wood against.
Sales Tax Issue:
As reported in the Town Hall meeting – The sales Tax issue has been resolved. We do not know the cost for the attorney at this time.Candidates Night:
Mr. Massey encouraged all to come out to Candidates Night and to vote during this up-coming election.
Fire Works:
All are reminded of the Contribution Box that has been set up in the 19th Hole. We are accepting donations for our Fire Works display.
Next Board meeting is June 23rd. The Board recessed to Executive session. 20 minutes later the meeting was adjourned.
